Glenview, 20 miles north of the Loop,
has often been singled out for its desirable schools, wealth
of businesses, parks and lovely homes. This village offers
a wide housing range, from the high $200s to over a million.
The community currently developing The
Glen, the site of the former Glenview Naval Air Station (GNAS),

Glenview has had a high school, a junior
high and an elementary school recognized by the National Excellence
in Education award. Elementary students attend school districts
30, 31, 34, 37, 63 and 65.
The majority of Glenview's teenage students
attend Glenbrook South High School in District 225, one of the most
highly rated schools in greater Chicago. The 2000 average composite
ACT score was 23.5. Some of Glenview's students attend New Trier
High School in District 203, or Maine East High School in District
207. New Trier had an average 2000 composite ACT score of 26.0,
while Maine East averaged 21.5.
The Glenview Park District operates parks,
playgrounds, swimming pools, tennis courts, softball fields, basketball
courts and "The Grove," an 82-acre nature preserve. The
newly built Glenview Park Center offers first rate health club facilities,
a running track, an indoor pool, and a huge gymnasium.
Glenview is located between the Edens
Expressway (I-94) and the Tri-State Tollway (I-294). Drive time
to the Loop is 30 minutes. Rail commuters may board the train at
the recently renovated Glenview station for a 35- minute trip to
the Loop. O'Hare Airport is a 20-minute drive, and Midway is 55
minutes away. Metra rail commuters reach the Loop in 35 minutes.
